Notes
Specimen H‑7 was made in 1647 by the Institute’s founder, and has been studied every day since. He was the first, but asked to be catalogued last, “so that he could see who else turned up.”
He is seven inches tall. He has measured seven inches every day for 379 years, except on Thursdays, when he cannot be found to measure. He took the calipers in 1997. He has never had his jar back since 1911, and in 2024 he answered the Jar Preference Survey with two words: lid off.
As of this writing, H‑7 is accounted for. Please see the public notice at the top of every page, and the Office of Containment’s most recent retraction.
